Konstantin (Kocho) Garnev (1893 – 1966)
1893, January 18th
Born in Libyahovo (currently Ilinden, Gotse Delchev region) as the fourth of the seven children to Georgi Garnev (1856 – 1913) and Gitsa Constantinova.
1910
Graduated from Neophit Rilski Comprehensive School of Bansko.
1911
Auditing student in pottery and ceramics in the State Art Industry School in Sofia.
1913 – 1921
Student at the State School of Art and Drawing, his studies were interrupted during the War.

1915 – 1918
War artist during the World War I.

1923
Left for Germany and established in Munich.
1924 – 1931
Studied painting in the Academy of Fine Arts, Munich (Akademie der Bildenden Künste München) with Professor Hermann Groeber and Professor Franz von Stuck

1925 – 1927
Participated in exhibitions of Munich painters.

1926 – 1934
Konstantin Garnev travelled a lot. He visited Italy, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, England, Switzerland, Southern France, Spain, Dalmatia, Bulgaria, Greece, Sicily, Paris, East Prussia, Finland, the entire Baltic shore, North Africa, Morocco, Palestine, Turkey, Syria, Jerusalem.
1934, May 6th-24th
Presented his one man exhibition in Preslav Gallery in Sofia, opened by Prof. Ivan Lazarov which was enthusiastically appreciated by the audience and the colleagues.
1934, September 9th – 28th
Participation in a joint exhibition of the Earth Group New Artists Collective (Grupa Zemlja), Zagreb, presented in Preslav Gallery, Sofia.

1934 – 1944
As an absentee member of the New Artists Collective her took part in the general art exhibitions in Sofia.
1940, November 16th
An exhibition of Konstantin Garnev was opened in the Munich Lenbach Gallery (Lenbachhaus, the largest private gallery in Munich) with numerous audience and in the presence of notables of German art notables.

1941/1942
Participated with eight artworks in a representative touring exhibition, Bulgarian Art in Germany

1944 – 1945
During the air-raid over Munich, the artist’s studios, many paintings and his collection of artworks of Bulgarian and German authors were destroyed.

1948, June 18th – July 15th
Took part in the first exhibition of the Munich Society after the World War II organized in the Lenbach Gallery.

1948
Member and founder of the Visual Artists Protection Union. Took part in the annual exhibition of the organization.

1950
Member and First Chairman of the Pavilion Munich Group.

1965
After being absent from the Bulgarian artistic life, Konstantin Garnev was invited and participated in the National Painting Exhibition 1965 in Sofia with the painting Horsewoman
1966, September 1st
Died in Munich. He was buried in the city’s north cemetery.
